Payday!(not the chocolate)

Today I received my first official paycheck. Now i had gotten one before when i worked in Azusa Pacific University with its hospitality services, but that was only two days, because as some of you might know, i had to leave. However, today was payday!! After work I picked up my checks(two. One was for the days i was training.) I felt so good. I worked hard for that money. Trust me, I’ve put up with quite a few things already. I have only been working @ walmart for three weeks, but i know customer service like the back of my hand. Or at least i think I do, i still need more experience of course. jaja. But I am so blessed to have this job. I love it! these checks will keep me putting a smile on for my awesome customers. Thank you Jesus! Now i got the cash, now i got to learn how to save it, and put it to good use.

Last year my dad was outside in the garden, when he caught a little blue parakeet. He kept it and put it in a little cage. We didn’t know whether it was a boy or a girl, so we just called it “cielo azul” or blue sky. It was an unusual little fella, who loved to chirp his or her way to the top. If this bird would have participated in Bird Idol he would have definitely won.

One year with this little bird, some great memories. This morning we realized we had forgotten to bring him inside during the night, so we went outside like usual to bring him inside, I found him almost sitting with his head down, on one of the corners of the cage. He wasn’t moving. First i thought he’s problably faking it. But he was dead. Me and my mom took his little body in a plastic bag, and said bye bye. I felt so bad, his little life had ended. i miss that bird. It was so extravagant. Such a unique little creation. Rest in peace amiguito!!

I had no idea i had to work on Sunday. I was at church. When church was over i checked my voicemail. HUh?? Missed call…wonder who it is i thought. It was one of my supervisors calling me to see where i was. I was scheduled to work from 10:30- 7:30pm, and i didn’t get the voicemail till 12:30pm. OH man!!

I went home, changed, and headed for work. The good thing is that my supervisor wasn’t tripping to bad, he said he would give me a freebie just this once. He’s cool. It’s my second week being a cashier at wal-mart and i am enjoying it. I got crazy customers already, but hey bring them on!!

I remember her distress and anxiety that day. I remember sitting next to her on the bed listening to her cry. I felt useless at not being able to mitigate her pain. I knew i too had also had a relapse into depression and had come out of it. But what about if she couldn’t handle it. Or how was she handling this situation. I had gone through depression, and now she was too, but what could i say, to make her understand that i knew what she was going through? Did i really understand what she felt? Or did i just say it to give her hope. GOD knows i didn’t really want to feel that again, but what i said was, “I know exactly how you feel, i was here too.”

I’m used to hearing people say, “I know exactly how you feel” to someone who is going through a hard situation in life. I know they just want to help, encourage and be there for the person who is hurting at the moment. However, I have always believed that that is not true. Though they have good intentions for the person, and wish for the individual who is hurting to not feel alone, in a sense they are alone at the moment. No one knows how the person feels. Only GOD.

Now you can argue, and say “What if the person has gone through something similar?” Then what? (just like example above) Well it remains just that. “Something similar.” That’s all it is. No one really can say “I know how you feel.” Because everyone experiences everything differently. We all cope distinctly. Now that won’t stop us from helping others. But we can’t be light in our words, and say we know what the person feels, because you know, you will never feel exactly what the other person feels. The bible says in Proverbs 14:10

“Each heart knows its own bitterness, and no one else can share its joy.”

So that means that it’s different for every person, ever created. To feel what that person is feeling, whether good or bad, you must be inside of that person. Dwell in them, correct?

Let’s put it this way, when you’re happy, no one can really know how happy you are. Right? They might laugh with you, or congratulate you in your success. But they can only share just a glimpse of your joy. When you are sad and lonely, or have lost a loved one, you know those tough situations in life, like depression, or a parent’s divorce, or failure and doubt, the only person that really understands, is you at the moment, Yes? Yup. Cause only you are yourself.

Uh, oh, Wait!! There is someone who knows what you are feeling. GOD. If you are his, he lives within you, and if he is in you, then he knows exactly how you feel. That is the exception. GOD!

We human beings don’t have that gift. That divine ability, to know how your neighbor or friend feels at any given moment, in any given situation. But we can relate. The closest we can get, is to relate in our emotions. We can say, “I can relate to that!” And that is great. It works and is helpful for our relationships, but we will never really know, what the other person feels or is thinking, even if we have gone through a similar situation. ONly GOD!

Now. I commend those who are always there for their friends and family during circumstances, but don’t ever assume you know exactly how they feel, because if you did you wouldn’t have the energy to encourage them during their depression, and you wouldn’t be able to say a word while you both laughed at the same time, on the same joke or issue. God made us to be there for eachother. To relate. TO lend a shoulder to the lowly and hurt. If we all felt the same thing, the human race would cease to be. If we coped the same way, we wouldn’t have those strong individuals to hold our hands, and dry our tears during this walk. To give us hope, that we too can make it through. We wish to feel what our fellow beings do at times, out of sympathy and love, but it can’t nor will it ever be possible. We can however, be there on the opposite side, supporting them and praying to the GOD who knows them, who shares in their pain, or joy, will carry them in his arms.

We don’t really ever know. ONly One does, GOD.

A young boy had just received his driver’s permit and asked his father if they could discuss his use of the car. His father said he’d make a deal with his son. “You bring your grades up from a C to a B Average, study your Bible a little, get your hair cut and we’ll talk about the car.”

The boy thought about that for a moment, decided he’d settle for the offer and they agreed on it. After about six weeks his father said, “Son, I’ve been real proud. You brought your grades up and I’ve observed that you have been studying your Bible, but I’m real disappointed you didn’t get your hair cut.”

The young man paused a moment then said, “You know, Dad, I’ve been thinking about that, and I’ve noticed in my studies of the Bible that Samson had long hair, John the Baptist had long hair, Moses had long hair and there’s even a strong argument that Jesus had long hair.”

To this his father replied, “Did you also notice that they all walked everywhere they went?”

The Righteous Man

“Abram believed the LORD,and he credited it to him as righteousness.” Genesis 15:8

A few days ago I was reading about Abraham. I was fascinated by his complete trust in a God. The word says that God would come and speak with him, and then he would leave when he was done. I just thought about the amazing friendship they had, and i wondered of the things they might have talked about. However, when i read this verse(above) I was taken away by its context. Why? you might ask. Well because. Abram was a righteous man. What makes a righteous man?? Well from what i know it doesn’t mean you’re perfect and sin free. For we know that all of us have sinned according to the word. Being righteous does not mean that you will never make a mistake. It never says that Abram had it all put together, and never got it wrong. If you read closely and meditate on the word. Abram was Righteous because he believed the LORD! At first i didn’t understand this principle. I thought that to be righteous you had to be flawless, or at least try to be!

I was wrong. According to the word, Righteousness comes from believing in GOD’s. YOu don’t have to try to be perfect or work at trying not to make a mistake. You will only become exhausted! You just have to trust and believe GOD.

For many years i tried to gain GOD’s approval by trying to behave “good.” I thought that in order to become righteous i had to pray, read the bible, fast, not say any bad words, not have any bad thoughts, etc. But GOD called abram a righteous man, because he believed in him!

That my friends is what makes a righteous man!

It has been about two and a half years since i have felt any hate or resentment for those who hurt me. Those who spoke with malice about my family and built false testimony against us. Those who turned there backs on me, and laughed in my face, because they knew i wouldn’t speak up.It’s been about two and a half years now, and i’m happy to say I think of them, and i don’t feel any pain. I feel sorry for them. Yet i long to feel love and compassion. So far the hurt is gone. I strive to work on building a heart to give freely, of what i’ve been given. One day they will see the truth, and i will be glad! I chose to forgive them, and let go of my past, For my greatest days are ahead of me… I’m walking without holding on to any brokenness. No shame, of what happened. i learned, I cried, I healed, I survived. I forgave.

LOve your enemies, says the LORD, I will obey.

I thank GOD for the pain, because it only brought me closer to him.

Exodus 17

Water From the Rock

¹ The whole Israelite community set out from the Desert of Sin, traveling from place to place as the LORD commanded. They camped at Rephidim, but there was no water for the people to drink. ² So they quarreled with Moses and said, “Give us water to drink.”
Moses replied, “Why do you quarrel with me? Why do you put the LORD to the test?”

³ But the people were thirsty for water there, and they grumbled against Moses. They said, “Why did you bring us up out of Egypt to make us and our children and livestock die of thirst?”

⁴ Then Moses cried out to the LORD, “What am I to do with these people? They are almost ready to stone me.”

⁵ The LORD answered Moses, “Walk on ahead of the people. Take with you some of the elders of Israel and take in your hand the staff with which you struck the Nile, and go. ⁶ I will stand there before you by the rock at Horeb. Strike the rock, and water will come out of it for the people to drink.” So Moses did this in the sight of the elders of Israel. ⁷ And he called the place Massah ^[a] and Meribah ^[b] because the Israelites quarreled and because they tested the LORD saying, “Is the LORD among us or not?”

Just like the Israelties, I too forget how good GOD is and has been. Here were the Israelites who had seen the miracles GOD had performed in egypt, quarreling and complaining. Sound familiar?? THey had a need. Verses 1 and 2 say that they needed and wanted water. Imagine they were in a desert, and problably were a little dehydrated from all that traveling. The children, women, and livestock were also in need, it needed to be met quickly. I can relate, I too have had needs and been desperate. Life, or GOD tests us to see how faithful we will remain. Yet we don’t always pass the test. The Israelites had to take it over and over again!

Now they(israelites)were witnesses of the sea splitting so they could walk through and be saved from the hand of the egyptians, but still, they forgot that GOD had gave them food to eat, that he had provided for them and kept his promises. Just like that in our times of need, and desperation, it is human nature to forget the goodness of GOD and demand to know where he is. Just like the Israelites who wanted to know of GOD was with them or not?? (verse 7) Sounds silly when you read it, huh? You say how can the Israelites have forgotten, what was wrong with them??

It’s a human flaw that connects all of us, unfortunately. The thing that is most striking is that in the few previous chapters GOD reassures them saying, “Do not be afraid, Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the LORD will bring you today. The Egyptians you see today you will never see again. The LORD will fight for you; you need only to be still.” Exodus 14:13-14

That is a direct word from the LORD. Jehovah-nissi. THE LORD MY BANNER! He said he would fight for them. That means in the time of your need, despeartion, heartache, and confusion, the LORD will be there. Don’t try to fix it yourself, you are only going to make it worse. He will answer you, if you call on him. If you trust him. If you are still. His word says in Psalms 46:10, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.”

Know that he is GOD! Let’s not fret about our needs and worry. Were are really good at doing that aren’t we? We think we can fix our own problems, but sometimes the problem or circumstance is too large for us. It calls for a mightier and bigger hand!

Let’s not quarrel and complain to GOD even after he has said he will be with us.

Let’s not doubt whether he is with us or not. Even when we feel him farthest, he is closer than ever.

Let’s not forget, that he promises to never leave us or forsake us.

“The LORD himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.” Deuteronomy 31:8

Yes its natural to forget, but let’s not camp in our forgetfullness, forgetting GOD. Remember the Israelites stayed in the desert 40 years, because they kept forgetting, and kept doubting in GOD. Yes, times will come when we will have nothing to do but believe in GOD and trust him. I know, i’m there. Yet in our time of need and desperation, is when we should make the greatest effort to remember the goodness of the GOD, and trust in him. It is our nature to forget, but we must remind ourselves not to!

In return he will be our guide, our strength, the fighter of our battles, our Good in everyday, our banner, and righteousness!

Be Blessed today and take this with you in your heart, “For this is our GOD for ever and ever; he will be our guide even to the end” Psalm 48:14

I want that CD w/ A praise report

Today I went looking for a CD. Not just any CD, but Blindside’s silence album. I am to let you know, a big fan of Blindside. I love every song I have ever listened too. Why? It has meaning, it has a message, and it is great to listen to. It’s like listening to poetry. Every lyric is written with great effort and passion. This band is truly devoted to GOD in their own way. Their fruit screams from off the music playlists! When you read the words, its like you can see inside of the band, get into their thoughts, and what they were feeling at the moment. There music connects you to GOd, and it relates you to them in a way. Not many artists can connect with their listeners. That is something you have to have other than talent. Talent can only get you so far, and Blindside has just that! However,

I needed to buy this album. I went to Walmart, Target, and K-mart. Nothing!! I’m still a little bummed.

But, I’ll keep looking, and i will save my money to buy it.

P.s. But if you like Rock, and are looking for some good christian music with some screamo in it, and a good message. I say you check out, Blindside. They are really worth investing your money and ears!!

I just want to take the time to thank GOD right now for the part-time job he has blessed me with.!! THank YOu GOD!! I know that in these tough times it is so difficult to even find a job, but i have been given one. After months of unemployment, and resumes, and applications, i have gotten a job. I am now a Part-time Cashier @ your local Los Banos Walmart. I will be starting on the 21st of April. Orientation that is!! I’m happy. It will good for now, because i am just getting on my feet. I can save money, and get ready for school this coming semester, and of course have money to help my family and my church with. I am going to do the best that i can. I’m going to provide my customers with the best service i can squeeze out my soul, because i’ve had those nasty people treat me like nothing in stores, and i don’t like the feeling. I promised never to give bad customer service, and i will not dissapoint myself.

During this time of fasting, I prayed for doors to be open, and they did. I am blessed to have been chosen, for this position. I love change. I love counting money and when i was smalll i played cashier! So for this season, the job is great!

Merci Dieu!

If you can give GOD praise, do it. For he IS GOOD!
